About Dial A Dump Industries

Dial A Dump Industries is one of the state’s leading waste management group. Its satellite companies are recognized to be amongst the fastest growing and most innovative in New South Wales.

The group started when Ian Malouf as Managing Director, established Dial A Dump Pty Ltd in 1984. Through strong customer focused services within the building industry, the group expanded dramatically during the late 1980’s. This prompted the diversification of income into property investment and management with the purchase of properties within the heart of the industrial district in Alexandria.

Dial A Dump Pty Ltd is licensed by the EPA to transport, store, recycle, reprocess and dispose of wastes. The company benefits from a huge inventory, a large fleet of modern trucks all fitted with state of the art GPS tracking, experienced drivers and a suite of specialist equipment to solve access and operating problems. From its base in the inner city of Sydney, it offers customers within the Sydney Metropolitan region the quickest turnaround of bins available within the waste transport industry.

In 2000, Dial A Dump was contracted by Abi Group for the transportation of waste from the site that is now the Sydney Superdome. Dial A Dump then achieved upwards of 80% recycling well above the goal of 60% set by the New South Wales government to be achieved by the year 2000.

During the 1990’s the growing size of the fleet of trucks and other plant and equipment required the creation of a workshop division. Specializing in heavy equipment maintenance and repairs the workshop division has the capacity to solve any mechanical issues due to the division’s unequalled experience in servicing state of the art plant equipment for the waste industry. The workshop also manages the hire of plant and sales from excavators to loaders and crushers and screens and can provide experienced operators to manage the equipment.

In 2001 Christopher Biggs joined the group as General Manager. The management team structured a successful deal for the acquisition of the St Peters Tip from Sydney City Council. Alexandria Landfill Pty Ltd now operates a Solid and Inert waste landfill, resource recovery and recycling facility at Albert Street, St Peters NSW. Historically the site of 15.65 hectares had been used as part of extensive brick making activities taking place in the St Peters area. Substantial excavation took place at the site to extract shale for the brick making manufacturing process. Excavation of the pit ceased in early 1950s when the site was purchased by Sydney City Council.

Immediately following acquisition the landfill operation was streamlined to landfill as little waste as possible whilst dealing with environmental issues through best practice engineering modeled from the United States but also In House Research and Development. The Landfill’s environment division has redesigned the site which now benefits from one of the best water and dust management plans within Australia whilst its biological leachate treatment plant is attracting the interest of several parties.

Another division of the landfill is Dial A Product and currently about 90% of the waste received at the landfill is either recovered or recycled into different types of landscaping and construction products. These include road base, bedding sands and aggregates. All products are tested to the NSW EPA’s standard and Dial A Product has a proven track record in provision of recycled materials. These products are either available from our Dial A Product area on Albert Street or Old Wallgrove Road but can also be delivered to the client’s site.

In a $130 million dollar deal in 2005 with Valad Property Group and Hanson Construction Materials, the group under the name of Light Horse Business Centre acquired the former Fitzpatrick hard rock quarry at Eastern Creek. The group plans to rehabilitate the former quarry towards future building developments and for a materials processing factory area producing various grades of recycling products and engineered soils.
